Intro -x4-: C G D

Verse 1:
C G D
He says he doesn’t believe anything much he hears these days
C G D
He says, “Why fall in love, just so you can watch it go away?”
C G D
He spends most of his nights wishing it was how it used to be
C G D
He spends most of his flights getting pulled down by gravity
C G D
I call just checking up on him
C G D
He’s up, 3am pacing
C G D
He says, “It’s not just a phase I’m in”
C D
My voice comes out begging

Chorus:
Em C D
All this time I didn’t know
                     C
You were breaking down
            Em D
I’d fall to pieces on the floor
                      C
If you weren’t around
             D
Too young to know it gets better
G D Em
I’ll be summer sun for you forever
C Em D
Forever winter if you go…

Interlude -x2-: C G D

Verse 2:
C
He seems fine most of the time
G D
Forcing smiles and never minds
C
His laugh is a symphony
G D
When the lights go out it’s hard to breathe
C G D
I pull at every thread trying to solve the puzzles in his head
C G D
Live my life scared to death he’ll decide to leave instead
C G D
I call just checking up on him
C G D
He’s up, 5am wasted
C G D
Long gone, not even listening
C D
My voice comes out screaming

Chorus:
Em C D
All this time I didn’t know
                     C
You were breaking down
            Em D
I’d fall to pieces on the floor
                      C
If you weren’t around
             D
Too young to know it gets better
G D Em
I’ll be summer sun for you forever
C Em D
Forever winter if you go…

Interlude -x2-: C Em D

Verse 3:
C Em D
If I was standing there in your apartment
C Em D
I’d take that bomb in your head and disarm it
C Em D
I’d say I love you even at your darkest and
C D Em
Please don’t go

C D
I didn’t know
                     C
You were breaking down
            Em D
I’d fall to pieces on the floor
                  C
If you weren’t around
                D
Too young to know it gets better
G D Em
I’ll be summer sun for you forever
C Em D
 Forever winter if you go…
