remember keys
E Asus2 E Asus2
Sheets of empty canvas, untouched sheets of clay
     E A E
Were laid spread out before me as her body once did

E Asus2 E Asus2
All five horizons revolved around her soul as the earth to the sun
E A E
Now the air I tasted and breathed has taken a turn

C Em
Hmmmm, and all I taught her was everything
C Em
Hmmmm, I know she gave me all that she wore

And now my bitter hands,
Chafe beneath clouds
Of what was everything
Oh, the pictures
Have all been washed in black
Tattooed everything

E Asus2 E Asus2
I take a walk outside I'm surrounded by some kids at play
    E A E
Oh, I can feel their laughter so, why do I sear

C Em
Hmmmm, and twisted thoughts that spin 'round my head, I'm spinning, oh
  C Em
I'm spinning, How quick the sun can drop away

And now my bitter hands
Cradle broken glass
Of what was everything
All the pictures have
All been washed in black
Tattooed everything
All the love gone bad
Turned my world to black
And tattooed all I see,
All that I am,
All I'll be

D C Em D C
  Yeah Uh huh Uh huh

I know someday you'll have a beautiful life,
  D C
I know you'll be a star in somebody elses sky
    Em D C
But why, why, why can't it be,
C Em D C
Why can't it be mine2

  1. Hi.

I am not a ukulele expert, but I believe (and please correct me if I’m wrong) that the chord being shown above as “Asus2” is actually A FLAT sus2. My ear and other transriptions tell me that Asus2 would be the correct chord, but that the barre chord above is mistakenly shown half-a-step down.

  2. Try +5. I love this song, thank you so much for this!

  3. YoYoSpaghettiO

Asus2, how do I make mY FINGERS DO THAT

  4. Would love the tabs for “Alive” as well. This site gives the best transcriptions! Thx!

  5. Do you remember the good ol’ days before electric typewriters? Great writers, in addition, of course, to feeding themselves and dependents, just had to perservere through completion of the manuscript. Publishers were eager to promote. Buyers scanned books from authors they didn’t know at drug stores. There once was a real publishing industry. Now, you’ve spent all this time writing on a blog and wonder why. I’m considering the creation of a blog to self promote my project, layorawnadventudes.ccm. Naw.
