Somewhere over the rainbow, way up high
G D A Bm G
And the dreams that you dream of once in a lullaby...

Oh somewhere over the rainbow, blue birds fly

    D
Someday i'll wish upon a star
A Bm G
Wake up where the clouds are far behind me
      D
Where trouble melts like lemon drops

High above the chimney tops that's where you'll find me

I'll watch then bloom for me and you
      G A Bm G

See friends shaking hands, saying 'how do you do?'

They're really saying, I...I love you

ur all nerds who probably think you will get the girl but noooooo

    • even though you’re an insecure teen who crying over his depressing life, we already have families and went through school and obtained hobbies and don’t care that you think we’re uncool for having a talent

    • GryffinWolf91

Really? You wanted to go there? You have no idea what love or happiness is do you? Now let me tell you something. Were not nerds first of all. Were caring people who love to share our talents. Besides YOU”RE on this tab too. Second, you should stop caring about what other people are doing and mind your own business. Telling people that they’re not good enough even though they are won’t make you feel better about yourself. And even though were all more talented than you, hater, we don’t care. No ones cares about your stupid hate comments. So mind your own business and stay out of ours.

    • Ummmm, sorry! I’m just a nice person who remembered when she and her dad got matching ukuleles when she was a kid. She remembered this is the song her dad first learned on the ukulele and thought it would be nice to sing to him on his birthday. I don’t want a date. I just want to make my dad smile.

    • i AM the girl

    • uh- if ukulele is such an issue for you- why are you on a ukulele website…?

    • Geez, how’s life working out for you buddy? Had a bad when you wrote this? Don’t worry, when you get older you’ll look back and your problems won’t seem as bad as you think they are now. Next time just try not to bring other people down just because you feel bad, alright?

    • Lailee Maxwell

      and you can?

    • Hope A Howell

honestly but i know i can’t get the guy

    • Then why are you on this page if you think the uke is for nerds?

    • Not really, I’m a teenage girl who just likes to play. Don’t assume

    • bitch, i HAVE a boyfriend, and he’s proud of my talent. He likes it when i play my instruments and sing for him.

ukelele is sick as frick, btw :)

    • Yeah Steven’s right! This hobby is great. And there is nothing nerdy about it. If you don’t have anything nice
to say, then don’t say anything. You get nothing out of hate comments.

    • Finn Wolfhard is cute

    • CeeLeeHug

Hi, you can also use the d DUduDU d DUduDU strumming pattern. Its very similar to Israel’s strumming pattern.

  13. wtf why is it half over the rainbow and half what a wonderful world by louis armstrong?

  14. Ive always wanted to learn the uke. Anyone have tips on where to start to start learning. I own an uke already part of my family is Hawaiian and it’s something I’ve always wanted to do.

    • Georgiann

Since part of your family is Hawaiian, is there anyone in your family who knows how to play that can teach you the basics?
If not, check and see if there are beginner group lessons in your area. The local community college here has lessons for ages 9 and up…all ages in the same class. This got me started.
Check around and see if there might be something like this…or maybe a park district class.

If there isn’t anything around you, look up tutorials on YouTube. They’re very helpful! …also, you could ask questions here for anything you don’t understand. The people here seem very helpful. Good Luck!

    • pastelpup

Theres many great tutorials on Youtube to learn the Uke :)

    • Yousician is incredible, and you get a free lesson every day. You’ll learn lead and rhythm.

    • hey, literally I learned myself just by watching simple YouTube clips and looking at chords on this website!

    • Well my grandpa is a ukelele teacher which is how i got so good at it.
I have learned so much from playing the c note to playing the b flat cord. He also teaches guitar and keyboard

    • Or, I just learned the basic chords and am just practising songs from this website

    • Start on the basics on here like you are my sunshine and other songs I don’t know very many strumming patterns but single strum works on most rupture is also a good song to start on if not play c, g, am, and f those are the basics

    • try an app called yousician. :) you can get it on android and apple

    • Lillie Moreno

there’s a cool guy on youtube called the ukulele teacher

  15. Georgiann

Faith, What version are you seeing? I’ve seen 3 here so far… One of them is great! The other 2 I’ve seen are not as good. Could you possibly be seeing one of the other 2 versions that are not so great?

  16. Georgiann

  17. Georgiann

Ok, I’m confused here… I’m new to this site, so maybe there’s something I don’t know, but in going from page to page in the comments for this song, I have seen 3 Completely different versions of this. …and from reading the comments, it sounds as though on any given page, the comments are not from the same version. I mean, the chords being mentioned in some of the comments aren’t even the chords given in the version I’m seeing on the page. The chords some people are mentioning are the chords shown and in other comments (on the same page) are not shown on that page. Are we all seeing different versions??
    Is anyone else notice this?

  18. Awesome chords! Just right. People have you even heard that song, those chords were just right this isn’t the Wizard of Oz version peeps. This song is a way better cover. So just plz stop hating and hate on something else? Awesome Awesome chords tho??

    • Georgiann

Gretz, Could you read my comment and let me know what you think? (it’s the next one after yours… on July 7th)
On one of the versions here, the chords do sound awesome. On others, not so much…could this possibly be the reason for some of the strange sounding comments? If you read my comment on the 7th, what I’m saying here should be more clear…
      Thanks!

  19. Hey wassup UKE PLAYERS!

  20. Tony Tonev

Great tab, great song. Only thing I would change is after Dm7 it should be G instead of D.

    • Georgiann

Yes agreed, that’s the only part that doesn’t sound right. Thanks…it sounds much better with G!

Carefully listen to the song and try to really "feel" the rhythm. Once you get the basics of strumming, I can assure you it'll go real quick. Maybe the strumming guide can help you on your way.
