Intro: Bb F Ebsus2

Verse 1:
Bb F
Take it slow, tell me all how you've grown
        Ebsus2
Just for me, could we all reminisce?
Bb F
Better yet, here's a pen, make a list
        Ebsus2
Fill it full of all the things I've missed

Bridge 1:
                F
Cause I could barely drive past the school
Gm Dm
Without stopping to think of you
   Ebsus2
And how we used to act the fool
    F Gm Dm
But worst of all I wish I'd called at least a thousand times or more
Ebsus2
Just to hear, what I've been missing

Chorus:
Bb F
If a picture is all that I have
                                Ebsus2
I can picture the times that we won't get back
                             Gm
If I picture it now it don't seem so bad
       F Bb
Either way, I still wish you were here
                                F
Don't say everything's meant to be
                               Ebsus2
Cause you know it's not what I believe
                                           Gm
Can't help but think that it should've been me
       F
Either way I still wish you were here

Interlude: Bb F Ebsus2

Verse 2:
Ebsus2 Bb F
Thinking back on the days when we all used to say
         Ebsus2
"I know anywhere's better than here"
        Bb F
In the back of the class, where we grew up too fast
      Ebsus2
Living life like there's nothing to fear

Bridge 2:
        F Gm Dm
But the ice on the road, driving home all alone
        Ebsus2
Singing along to a song from three summers ago
              F Gm
The one that made you remember it
Dm Ebsus2
Now I'll always remember it
        F Bb
As the song that your life ended with

Chorus:
Bb F
If a picture is all that I have
                                Ebsus2
I can picture the times that we won't get back
                             Gm
If I picture it now it don't seem so bad
        F Bb
Either way, I still wish you were here
                                F
Don't say everything's meant to be
                               Ebsus2
Cause you know it's not what I believe
                                           Gm
Can't help but think that it should've been me
        F
Either way I still wish you were here

Interlude: Gm

Bridge 3:
Gm Ebsus2 Bb
And they say you're in a better place
                                      Gm
But a better place is right here with me
          Ebsus2 F
Yeah, they say you're in a better place
                             Bb
Too bad it's not what I believe

To remind me that you're never coming back
                            Gm
If I picture it now it just makes me sad

And right now I just wish you were here

Can't help but think that it should've been me

Biography

Neck Deep are a Welsh pop punk band from Wrexham who formed in 2012 when vocalist Ben Barlow met former lead guitarist Lloyd Roberts. On 19 April 2012 the duo posted the song “What Did You Expect?” online under the name Neck Deep. According to Roberts, Barlow “literally said, ‘What about Neck Deep [as the band name]?’ and that was that.” The name comes from the Crucial Dudes’ song “Boom, Roasted”. “What Did You Expect?” soon gained attention online.
