I remember my mum playing this in the car then aggressively screaming “ALICE? WHO THE F**** IS ALICE!?” After each pause in the chorus. I played this for her and she did the same thing. I love my mum ❤️

There’s an Irish pub in Seattle (well there used to be) call the Owl-n-Thistle. They had the most awesome house band that played on most Friday and Saturday nights (early 90s). This was their signature song. My buddy and I would get there around 7 (or you wouldn’t get a seat), have some shepherd’s pie, a couple dozen pints and around midnight the band would play Alice. Oh btw, you’re when the lyric ends…living next door to Alice – traditionally the whole crowd shouts: ALICE, ALICE WHO THE F*** is ALICE?? Good times.
you can play E chord also like 4442 (order G, C, E, A) or 444x (like you mute A string, just gently touch it). I wrote it because the basic chord 1402 is too hard for me 😀
