If you want it to sound more like the original song, play Cmaj7 in the place of C, and Am7 instead of Am.
At the end of the pre-chorus, you could add G7 after G.
for the plucking, i like to do 2 3 *strum* any time it’s C Am F G and for the pre chorus just DUD for each note.
