Rufus McGarrigle Wainwright (born 22 July 1973) is a Canadian-American singer and songwriter. Wainwright was born in Rhinebeck, New York, USA, to folk singers Loudon Wainwright III and Kate McGarrigle (they divorced while he was a child).
