Verse 1: Am G Did your eyes get wide and all excited? C You were like 15, discovered nitrous. Am G Spending every night on empty beaches C With the same four kids you'd never sleep with. Am G Now you're without it, you can't party anymore C So you go and make a record about it. Am G The hometown drug scene, every 14 year old C Restless brat's wet dream, Am G Sporting the same shades, same tank top, same blue jeans C Hit the same beach and drink the same vodka sweet tea. Am G Unfairly pass the blame and claim it was generational, C Predisposition tourney prestigious, invitational. Am G Like, don't look at me, I wasn't even conceived, C When the scene, the game became operational. Am G I'm a poser, you said it yourself, C Don't expect me not to pose when the cameras come out! Am G You missed the lesson on looking out for yourself, C May not be on the up and up but I'm on the up and out. Chorus: Am G C So take me to the far side of the beach, C Before it falls into the ocean, Am G C Before you notice I'm eroding, C I know you don't want to be lonely. Am G C Am G C Oooh (Ooh, ahh) I know you don't want to be lonely. Verse 2: Am G The sun and the substances you'd choke down C Combine in your mind for wild lies about how Am G Your favorite celebrity's car just broke down C They're stranded and they gotta crash at your house! Am G All the kids that were mean to you in school are broke now, C On the side of the road asking big shots for handouts. Am G Big shots like you, cause look at you, you're awesome, C But you're laying on the beach like an amputee dolphin. Chorus 2: Am G C "The world just ain't ready for us yet, that's it," Am G C Says the guy to your left, you would die for that kid. Am G C Watch his eyes as they get sorta distant and different, Am G C and we're moving in place again. Am G C We're moving in place again. Bridge: C Am G C Am G It sure is fun to hate something you'll love when it's gone C Am C This time it's everywhere and everyone at once, C Am From moving in place to moving on G C to moving on, to moving on, to moving on Chorus: Am G C Take me to the far side of the beach, before it falls into the ocean, Am G C Before you notice I'm eroding, I know you don't want to be lonely. Am G C I know you don't want to be lonely, I know 'cause I would feel the same thing. Am G C Tomorrow I'm gonna be 18, Right now it takes everything in me Am G To kick and claw and fight against that instinct, C To lay there and just sink into the same beach Am G And get so high that I feel my brain shrink, C Justify it's not a massive time waste, Am G Close my eyes, deny I see you sinking, C Lay there right beside you in that imprint Am G I left there that night in 2019 C Lean into the tide and let it take me... Outro: Am G Did your eyes get wide and all excited? C You were like 15, discovered nitrous.
