Your cracked country lips

a world that just don’t exist

         C
Has been twisted and fed
     C | G | % | G6 | G7 |
With worthless foam from the mouth
      G7
I can tell you are torn
        G7
Between stayin’ and returnin’

Back to the South

    C | G | % | G6 | G7 |
And no one is better than you
       G7
If you really believe that
    G7 G6 G | C | C | C | C |
You know you got nothing to win and nothing to lose
     F
From fixtures and forces and friends
                | G | % | % | % |
Your sorrow does stem
     G
That hype you and type you
G
Making you feel
         G6 G7 | C | % | % | % |
That you gotta be just like them

Verse 5:
       C
I’d forever talk to you
    C
But soon my words
           C | G | % | G6 | G7 |
They would turn into a meaningless ring
    G7
For deep in my heart
  G7 | C | % | % | C |
I know there's no help I can bring
F
Everything passes everything changes
     F | G | % | G6 | G7 |
Just do what you think you should do
    G7
And someday maybe who knows, baby
     G7 C
I’ll come and be cryin’ to you
