Intro: C F C G C G C

Verse 1:
C G C F
Church bells ringing; muted singing
G F C G C
Carries our exuberance away
    G C F C
Our friends have all but left us
G F G C Dm C Dm
They departed many years ago
                     C Dm
And they won't come back
        C G
No they won't come back no more

Chorus:
      Am G F
We're hungover in the city of dust
        Am G
Let our hearts run round in circles
         F
While we fall apart
      Am G F
We're hungover in the city of dust
        Am G
Let our minds run round in circles
         F C Am F C Am C G Am F C G Am
While we figure it all out

Verse 2:
C G C F G
Insolent and out of character
      F C
We've changed so much
  G C G F C
I barely recognize our formative lives
  G F G C Dm C Dm
Hidden deep, deep, deep underground
                     C Dm
And they won't come back
     C G
They won't come back no more

Chorus:
      Am G F
We're hungover in the city of dust
        Am G
Let our hearts run round in circles
         F
While we fall apart
      Am G F
We're hungover in the city of dust
        Am G
Let our minds run round in circles
         F C
While we figure it all out

Bridge:
C G
Feeling moody dark and heavy
Am F C
There's no feeling in my left arm
    G Am F
Resonance is far away
C G
Try to complicate my thinking
Am F C
Am I falling, am I sinking
       G Am F
Powder in my fingernails
C G
And the belt wrapped around
   Am F C
My shrinking waist is having trouble
          G Am F
Tryin' to keep the damn things up
C G
Want to write a single letter
Am F C
Maybe then I'll feel much better
      G Am
Until then we'll float

Chorus:
             G F Am G F
We're hungover --
         Am G F Am G F
Yeah, we are --
          Am G F Am G F
We're hungover in the city of dust
      Am G F
We're hungover in the city of dust
           Am G
So let our minds run round in circles
         F C
While we figure it all out
