  1. Dbm just doesn’t sound right to me, I did some research and found C#m to sound a lot better

    Here’s a little easy way to play this song.

    My strumming pattern is DDU UDU DDU UDU

    If you’re a beginner, substitute:

    E – C
    B – G
    Dbm – Am
    A – F

    if you want to play in the original E, B, Dbm, and A:

    Play E as:
    oooo <-4th fret
    xxxx
    xxxx
    xxxo

    and Dbm as:
    oooo <-4th fret
    xxxx
    oxxx

  3. Is there another chord I can use instead of the e my fingers don’t go that far😭

    I think strumming is a feeling, the rhythm, the mood depends what you are feeling and just let if flow from your wrist without too much thought a pattern will emerge eventually. It is very much linked to an individuals’ needs, style, voice, sense, history, intonation, and a great many more things. To Somtochukwu Unigwe :The strumming pattern is Down DOWN Up Down Up DOWN Up Emphasis on the capitalized downs. is NOT the only pattern. IT MIGHT BE RIGHT FOR YOU – but not everyone.

  5. Qwerty7890

    +3 was the easiest for me

  6. I Teach Ukulele

    you can use the strum pattern as
    d du du du or as ddu udu. the chorus is definitely confusing, but you just have to get the timing right and switch fast enough, then it makes since.

  7. Hey I use DUD too!

  8. Catherine Koester

    Use -4 for easier chords

  9. a great strumming pattern is DDU UDU UDU UDU

  10. E=C
    B=G
    Dbm=Am
    A=F
    when i first got my ukulele a few months ago, c, g, am, and f were the first chords i learned and i started just goofin around with them and i realized that it sounded like this song. if you’re a beginner, like i am, i find it a lot easier to substitute those chords out. personally, i think it still sounds pretty good.

    • Emo_Trash1809

      it really does thank you for that

    • Ukulele person

      Yes, you are right. You can find the same key if you transpose the song 4 steps down on the transposer. I always try transposing the song before I play it to see if there is an easier key. Also ukutabs wrote a note at the beginning of the song saying you can transpose it down 4 half steps to make it easier. Great observation though!

    • That actually sounds very nice. Thanks for the tip

  11. Okay so the chorus really pisses me off but the trick is like this in case anyone is having trouble:

    “Hey soul sister ——-(d-du-udu)x2
    ain’t that mister ——-(d-du-udu)x1
    mister ———————(ddu)x1
    on the ———————(d-du)x1
    radio stereo the ——(d-du-udu)x2
    way you move ain’t -(d-du-udu)x1
    fair you ——————-(d-du)x1
    know” ———————(d-du)x1

    So basically it is (d-du-udu) twice on the first chord (A) then the next chord (B) its the same thing but once (d-du-udu) then the next chord (E) is a fast (d-du) then next (B) is also the same as the last (d-du) then its a loop back to (d-du-udu) twice again

    I hope this helps you and other people but if you don’t get something just ask me!!

  12. the chord changes in the chorus did not seem right.

  13. Somtochukwu Unigwe

    The strumming pattern is Down DOWN Up Down Up DOWN Up
    Emphasis on the capitalised downs.

  14. ukulele is so awesome

    I LOVE THIS SONG
