Am F C
I don't like walking around this old and empty house
Am F C
So hold my hand, I'll walk with you my dear
Am F C
The stairs creak as I sleep, it's keeping me awake
Am F C
It's the house telling you to close your eyes

'Cause though the truth may vary
    C G

            Am F C
There's an old voice in my head that's holding me back
Am F C
Tell her that I miss our little talks
Am F C
Soon it will be over and buried with our past

We used to play outside when we were young - and full of life and full of love -
Am F C
Some days I don't know if I am wrong or right
Am F C
Your mind is playing tricks on you my dear

Chorus

'Cause though the truth may vary

-1 and +1 are both easier to play. If you’re just beginning I would suggest using -1, but if you’ve been playing for awhile and aren’t quiet ready to play 0, go with +1. Out of the two +1 sounds better in my opinion, but obviously 0 would sound the best. Just go with what you can at you’re skill level.

Also the strumming pattern I use is ddu-d. It’s basically ddu-udu, but I take out the second and third ups.

This song is really fun. I’ve been using +1 and it’s definitely difficult trying to do a bar chord, but I’m never gonna get better if I just do what’s easy.

  4. It’sjust me

I suggest using the same strumming pattern as riptide but jazz it up a little

Thank you for your sharing !
    An awesome song…
I advice you to use -1 in stead of 0, it’s easier to play…

  6. If you looking for easier chords to play try Am, F, C, and G.

  7. SophieWyche

I strongly recommend using +1 instead of 0

  8. lalizzziela

everyone else has said this already, but -1 is great!

  9. All I use in this song is am f and c. That is pretty much it

You can definitely use a traditional island strum for this DD-UU-DU, it’s not going to sound right at first, but it’s because you need to play it with a little bit of a swing, for the chorus you can do a single down strum per chord or continue through. The song actually is really basic in format so you can play around with strumming patterns and make it your own :)

  11. Hey kool kat248, sometimes the dashes mean to hold the chord for longer rather than stop it or play the next chord straight after.

  12. Strumming pattern any one?

  13. Hi, I have a question. I’m learning this song, but one of the things stumping me are the dashes. Do those mean anything? I’m very confused right now.

Could someone help me i need an easier way to play this song

  15. -3 also sounds really good even tho it’s not as easy as -1

  16. suggestion

I always thought that the lyrics were “some days I can’t even dress myself” rather than “trust myself.” I could be wrong, but I’m just pointing it out.

How do u find the strum in ukutabs and what is is it for this song

    • you cant get the strumming pattern here because copyright :( but if you look up a tutorial on youtube you can find it :)

  18. I think the lyrics for the first verse are “The stairs creak as you sleep”, as opposed to “as I sleep”, but I could be wrong. Does anyone know for sure?

  19. hey guys, it also sounds surprisingly good if you transpose it down to -4

  20. -1 sounds great. If you don’t have a capo you should look into getting one! It makes every song that you tune down sound better because it puts it in the correct key! I got 2 for $10 on amazon
