Verse:
          Bb
This is my street
                Cm
I smile at the faces
                   F
I’ve known all my life
                     Ab
They regard me with pride
                Bb
And everyone’s sweet
                          Eb
They say, “you’re going places!”
   Gm Bb
So how can I say that while I was
F Gm
away I had so much to hide?
                F
“Hey guys, it’s me!
     D7
The biggest disappointment you
Gm
know.”
     Eb Bb
The kid couldn’t hack it
      Bbm Ab
She’s back and she’s walking real
 Gm
slow.
         F7
Welcome home
     Bb
Just breathe

Chorus:
Bb F Fm
Sigue andando el camino
    Eb Gb
Por toda su vida.
   F
Respira.
Bb F Fm Eb Gb F
Breathe

Verse:
       F Bb
As the radio plays
                Cm7
Old forgotten boleros
              Bb
I think of the days
                   Ab
When this city was mine
                Bb
I remember the praise
                   F
“Ay, te adoro, te quiero,”
   Gm7 Eb
The neighborhood waved
                F
Said, “Nina, be brave” and
                Gm
“You're gonna be fine!”
               F
And maybe it’s me,
       D7 Gm
But it all seems like lifetimes ago
     Eb Bb Bbm
So what do I say to these faces
     Ab Gm
That I used to know
     F
“Hey I’m home.”

Bridge:
Gm F
Mira, Nina,
Bb Eb
No me preocupo por ella.
                          Gm
They’re not worried about me
       F Bb
Mira, allí esta nuestra estrella.
             D7
They are all counting on me to
  Gm
succeed.
               F
Ella si da la talla,
         Bb Gm
I am the one who made it out!
Eb
The one who always made the grade
Gb
But maybe I should have just

Stayed home...
     Gm F
When I was a child, I stayed wide
                      Eb
Awake, climbed to the highest place
         D7
On every fire escape, restless
    Gm
To climb
            Eb
I got every scholarship, saved
      Bb
Every dollar, the first to go to
D7 Gm
College, how do I tell them why
                 Eb
I’m coming back home?
         Bb D7
With my eyes on the horizon
     Gm F Eb
Just me and the gwb asking,
Bb Gb Fm
“Gee, Nina, What’ll you be?”

Verse:
               Bb
Straighten the spine
               Eb
Smile for the neighbors
             Bb
Everything’s fine
             Eb
Everything’s cool
               Bb
The standard reply:
                         F
“Lots of tests, lots of papers.”
Gm Eb
Smile, wave goodbye
            F
Pray to the sky, oh, God!
Eb F Gm
What will my parents say?
    Eb F Gm
Can I go in there and say,
   Eb Bb Bbm
“I know that I’m letting you down?”

Gm F
