Verse:
     Db Bbm
I've heard there was a secret chord
     Db Bbm
That David played, and it pleased the Lord
    Gb Ab Db Ab
But you don't really care for music, do you?

Pre-Chorus:
   Db Gb Ab
It goes like this, the fourth, the fifth
    Bbm Gb
The minor fall, the major lift
    Ab Fm Bbm
The baffled king composing Hallelujah

Chorus:
     Gb Bbm
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
      Gb Db-Ab-Db-Db
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

Verse:
     Db Bbm
Your faith was strong but you needed proof

You saw her bathing on the roof
    Gb Ab Db Ab
Her beauty in the moonlight overthrew you

Pre-Chorus:
    Db
She tied you
     Gb Ab
To a kitchen chair
    Bbm
She broke your throne,
    Gb
she cut your hair
    Ab Fm Bbm
And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
      Gb Db-Ab-Db-Db
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

Verse:
Db Bbm
Maybe I've been here before
  Db Bbm
I know this room, I've walked this floor
  Gb Ab Db Ab
I used to live alone before I knew you

Pre-Chorus:
     Db Gb Ab
I've seen your flag on the marble arch
Bbm Gb
love is not a victory march
       Ab Fm Bbm
It's a cold and it's a broken hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah

Verse:
      Db Bbm
There was a time you'd let me know
Db Bbm
What's real and going on below
    Gb Ab Db Ab
But now you never show it to me do you?

Pre-Chorus:
   Db Gb Ab
Remember when I moved in you?
    Bbm Gb
The holy dark was moving too
    Ab Fm Bbm
And every breath we drew was hallelujah

Was how to shoot at someone who outdrew you

     Db Gb Ab
It's not a cry you can hear at night

It's not somebody who's seen the light
       Ab Fm Bbm
It's a cold and it's a broken hallelujah

    Hello ukulele playing friend :)

  3. -5 is the same as +7

  4. +7 is what I use

  5. I figure out what key to sing this in. It’s frustrating me! I love to play it, simple and fun, but the singing is killing me.

  6. This is great for somebody who started two days ago. :)

  7. -5 is easiest with my vocal range since the regular key is either too low or too high, and it’s not that bad to play!

  8. -3 sounds really nice

  9. I play this on baritone uke (tuned DGBE) but with the same chord shapes (?) as shown for soprano, with CGCG instead of CGCC and plucking the strings individually (D,G,B,E,B,G,D,G,B,E etc)

  10. Instead of CGCC at the end of the chorus I do CGCG, its sounds better with transitioning into the verses especially cause they start with C

  11. Keith Porter

How can I get this in Baritone Uke and in tabs?

  12. 22LydiaJoy

I think that -5 sounds best, and it’s not too hard either.

  13. scroll isn’t working

  14. +5 is the closest one to the rufus rainworth cover (in shrek) it sounds lovey

  15. emma ukulele

    i like plucking the individual strings. I play g c e a e c and than i switch the chord (verse)

  16. Macie Mashek

so easy to play and fun

  17. I love this website and its very helpful but its so annoying how they dont
    show the strumming patterns

  18. I love this song and to me at least, it sounds exactly like it. I even was able to play it on piano thanks to this.

  19. Anna Comeskey

I don’t think it’s the real one but the strum I used was DDUU with a teeny pause after first upstrum

    • Katherine

I too struggle with knowing what strumming pattern to use! I often use DDUUDU at different tempos.
