Please do not ask for strumming patterns. Sharing online how to literally play a song (i.e. strumming, rhythm and tempo) is not allowed by the MPA (Music Publishers Association) because of copyright issues.
Carefully listen to the song and try to really "feel" the rhythm. Once you get the basics of strumming, I can assure you it'll go real quick. Maybe the strumming guide can help you on your way.

Really helpful absolutely love this song :)
Does anyone know if you can play this with the Rufus Wainwright version?
I checked it out on another website, and i believe everything is the same.
@Xenia: read from left to right, each line is one of your cords (not cHord!), a 0 means open (no fret pressed), a number means press this fret for this particular cord.
In this intro you press the third fret on the A cord, then start struming slowly down, then back up (keep the third fret on the A-cord pressed), then back down, (release the A-Cord, press the second fret on the G cord), back up, etc …
The tempo is up to you.
I might be completely wrong of course, as I’m really just a beginner, but that’s how I understood those notations. On Hallelujah it’s pretty simple thankfully :)
it is chord with an h
Haha
i just ignore the intro @ Xenia
I love this song!! Thank you! Now the second song I learned!! <3
I think Dodgson_here is right about the Em being an E7. Thanks for the chords!
I think this song is absolutely perfect! But I’ve been playing the ukulele for a while now and I still can’t figure out how to read/play the intro part. What do all those symbols mean? If anyone can help out that would be awesome! Thanks! :)
Hello Xenia!
The intro is tablature. Each one of the lines (made of dashes) represent strings on the uke. The numbers mean the fret you put your fingers on.
Hope it helps
Thanks so much for these awesome chords!
Hi! These chords are super accurate!!! Thanks so much. Really awesome song! ☺☺
I think the penultimate chord in the pre-chorus should be E7 not Em. At least when I play it on my own, I prefer the added tension leading to the Am.
THIS. A thousand times, this. The E7 (instead of Em) really nails the tension of that note and makes the resolve to Am so much more satisfying. Good ear, Dodgson!
E7 sounds amazing!!!! It might just be a personal preference, as people listening yo me asked why it sounded “different”, but that it great. Thank you so much and even though it’s not in the song here it still sounds great ;)
Seconded!!
I totally agree! The tension adds a more completed feeling once you play the Am, as opposed to the Em, which almost leaves the phrase hanging. I think it could be played either way, but my friends and I have all decided to play the E7 (we’re a small band that mostly plays worship songs and this is one of our favorites).
Yes!
This is the first song I ever learned on my uke thank you guys!
Same omg
i liove this song so much and knowing it on the uki is great
hi! i really love this song but it would be help full if you added all the lyrics and chors and put them in the correct order. thank you!
Hello Claire. What part is missing? The chords are already placed over all parts of the lyrics.
Thank you!!! :D
Apologies for the delay everyone! I have now placed the chords throughout the song! :-)
Hi again! I know I’ve already said this, along with a couple of other people but as far as I know, our comments haven’t been seen. Please write out all of the chords to the song!
Thank you :)
I totally agree with you!!!!
I completely agree with you taylorrose
Yeah, I agree with everyone who has posted comments. It would be sooooo much easier and better if the chords were one the whole song, since it’s sorta hard for me to memorize the chords (I’m only 11!)
same!
Same
I am 8. but I can see the chords, all of them, so is there a glitch of something?
I believe the person who put the song on here changed it when you and me looked at this song @Ukulele Bango
Indeed, I’ve added the chords throughout the song due to popular request :-)
Dear Ukulele Bango,
No there is no glitch. I just wanted to see who all of my ukulele friends are and I saw all the chords too.
Love,
T.S.

“Hi! I really love this song but since the chord progression changes for the verses, pre-chorus and chorus, it would be extremely helpful if you wrote out the chords for the whole song. It would save everyone who uses this tab having to write it out themselves.
Thanks :)”
I totally agree with taylorrose. =]
Thank you ^^
I love this song so much, but it’d make it a lot easier if you added the cords to all the lyrics! :)
if u are on a pc all the chords are there; they are for me :)
I think they should show all the chords to make it sound better!
