Intro -no chords-:
Carry on my wayward son
There'll be peace when you are done
Lay your weary head to rest
Don't you cry no more

Dbm B A B
Once I rose above the noise and confusion
Dbm B A B
Just to get a glimpse beyond this illusion
Gbm E D D E
I was soaring ever higher
Gbm E B
But I flew too high
Dbm B A B
Though my eyes could see I still was a blind man
Dbm B A B
Though my mind could think I still was a mad man
Gbm E D
I hear the voices when I'm dreaming
Gbm E B
I can hear them say

Dbm E B
Carry on my wayward son
Dbm E B
There'll be peace when you are done
Dbm E B
Lay your weary head to rest
Don't you cry no more

Dbm B A B
Masquerading as a man with a reason
Dbm B A B
My charade is the event of the season
Gbm E D D E
And if I claim to be a wise man
Gbm E B
It surely means that I don't know
Dbm B A B
On a stormy sea of moving emotion
Dbm B A B
Tossed about I'm like a ship on the ocean
Gbm E D D E
I set sail for winds of fortune
Gbm E B
But I hear the voices say

Dbm E B
Carry on my wayward son
Dbm E B
There'll be peace when you are done
Dbm E B
Lay your weary head to rest
Don't you cry no more

Dbm -mute-
Carry on

You will always remember
Dbm -mute-
Carry on
        E B
Nothing equals the splendor
Gbm E D D E
Now your life's no longer empty
Gbm E B
Surely Heaven waits for you

Dbm E B
Carry on my wayward son
Dbm E B
There'll be peace when you are done

  1. @Butterfinger the tabs are for solos and riffs, before the numbers are the letters of the strings,
A, E, C, and G, the numbers on the tab tell you which fret to play along which string. Although the riff seems slightly off, I suggest finding a different version :)

  2. I don’t understand. Who is the wayward son the state of Kansas wishes to carry on?

  3. Butterfinger

I’m a beginner, can someone tell me what the numbers on the lines mean?

  4. Panic_Janiel_Castiel

I do (DDU) on each chord!

  5. Panic_Janiel_Castiel

For the chorus I think it sounds better when you put an F on son. Hope this helps!

  6. Randomgirl

Could someone please rewrite the riff with alterations because this riff sounds a tiny bit off for me

  7. I feel like there should be something Am C and G in the chorus

  8. But we are kind of annoying lol

  9. CalligraphyPen

Anti, the coments doesn’t change the tab quality you dummie

  10. Bananasarebomb

And then I usually do one down stroke on each chord for the chorus. If that helps >>Alyssa

  11. HoneeLemon

    A Tumblr reunion
Imagine if we could put GIFs

  12. Bananasarebomb

I use D-DUDUDU usually once on each chord

  13. Dean Winchester

Did I miss the party? I really want pie.

  14. ^this^
