Intro: Dbm A E B

            Dbm A
Your little brother never tells you but he loves you so
              E B
You said your mother only smiled on her TV show
            Dbm A
You're only happy when your sorry head is filled with dope
           E B
I hope you make it to the day you're twenty eight years old

       Dbm A
You're tripping like you're saturated sunlight
       E B
You're spilling like an overflowing sink
       Dbm A
You're ripped at every edge but you're a masterpiece
       E B
And I'm tearing through the pages and the ink

              Dbm
Everything is blue
               A
His pills, his hands, his jeans
            E
And now I'm covered in the colors
     B
Pull apart at the seams
            Dbm A
It makes me blue
            E B
It makes me blue
              Dbm
Everything is grey
              A
His hair, his smoke, his dreams
             E
And now he's so devoid of color
         B
He don't know what it means
            Dbm A
It makes me blue
            E B
It makes me blue

           Dbm A
You were a vision in the morning when the light came through
         E B
And I've only felt religion when I lay with you
            Dbm A
Said you'll never be forgiven till your boys are too
          E B
I'm still waking every morning but it's not with you

       Dbm A
You're tripping like you're saturated sunlight
       E B
You're spilling like an overflowing sink
       Dbm A
You're ripped at every edge but you're a masterpiece
       E B
And I'm tearing through the pages and the ink

              Dbm
Everything is blue
               A
His pills, his hands, his jeans
            E
And now I'm covered in the colors
     B
Pull apart at the seams
            Dbm A
It makes me blue

The lyrics are wrong. It makes me blue should be And it’s blue

singing flower

wrong lyric: “your tripping like a saturated sunlight”
it supposed to be: “your dripping like a saturated sunrise”

MoxedMaverick

I like doing D hit for the strumming pattern

Shelly Dashandra

Ha ha ha, SAME

yinyang

This song made me cry when I played it

xryanrossx

if you want to do the stripped version play the spoken part like this: (chords are in brackets)
(Am) art is not
(F) what i create
(C) i create
(G) chaos
it may not be entirely right but its how i play it

emmacochrane

The “everything is blue” that is repeated should be at the end, not in the middle. Also, it’s “I was a lilac sky” not
“I turned into a lilac sky”

Grace

pretty sure they got the words right for that part, actually :)

ryan

no, these words are incorrect

Shera

i do it like this DDUDU

That_realist

When ever I strum, I do D rest D so it like fills up the spaces between chord for the verses, but when it starts at the chorus I do DDU-UDU slower then normally, because even when you play it slowly, it still sounds like you are rushing the lyrics. The best sound is -2 but the easiest for beginners is just 0. The speaking part is a little awkward if you only play the one chord in the front, so I do suggest finding another chord to play halfway through those, but I haven’t found any good ones yet.

wanderlust406

I just go through the Am, F, C, G progression through each line of the speaking part, to fill the space and keep it moving

this song is about Halsey sleeping with a Silver Fox lol

carsoncasiano

i just realized that

Brody

It’s actually written about her relationship with Matt Healy. The silver in his hair refers to the silver streak he always insisted on keeping near the from of his hair and the blue pills reference to what is suspected to be valium which Healy was/is addicted to. The song goes through the different stages of their relationship, starting off vibrant and slowly diminishing to grey nothingness with Halsey saying that, for her, the colour blue represents the unknown and unexplored. I’d check out Spotify’s ‘behind the lyrics’ feature – it tells you everything you need to know! :)
