Verse:
G
I think I've been telling lies,
C G
cause I've never been in love
Em G
Everyone falls for the sunshine disguise,
           G D C
distracted by who they're thinking of

Verse:
C G
I'd rather date an idea
C G
Something I'll never find
           Em
Sure, I'll live in the moment, but I'm never happy here
      G D C
I'm surrounded by greener looking times

Chorus:
   C D
Am I the only one wishing life away?
      Em G
Never caught up in the moment busy begging the past to stay
F Eb
Memories painted with much brighter ink
                            G
They tell me I loved, teach me how to think

Verse:
C G
I'll take what I can get
C G
'Cause I'm too damp for a spark
        C
Kissing sickly sweet guys 'cause they say they like my eyes
        G D C
but I'd only ever see them in the dark

Verse:
Em G
I'm sick of faking diary entries
       C G D C
Got to get it in my head; I'll never be sixteen again
    C Em G
I'm waiting to live, and waiting to love
            C D C
Oh it'll be over, and I'll still be asking when

Chorus:
C D
Am I the only one wishing life away?
      Em G
Never caught up in the moment busy begging the past to stay
F Eb
Memories painted with much brighter ink
                            G
They tell me I loved, teach me how to think

  1. I think it sounds best in +1 and for the strumming I am plucking the G string and then the C and A at the same time. I think it sounds a lot like the actual song that way. Also for the bridge, I suggest doing E, Gb, Ab, instead of E, Gb, Dbsus2, Gb cause it’s easier and sounds cooler.

  2. heya! I know people have been transposing the song, but if you put a capo on the first fret and play it as is, it’s the right key.

  3. Is there a plucking pattern to replicate the beginning of the song?

  4. I found that if you keep the chords the same, but put a capo on the first fret, it seems to fit more with the original song.

  5. I think +5 is the easiest to play!

  6. patsykiniry

    the verses dont sound right….

  7. WHAT IS THE FREAKING STRUMMING PATTERN FOR THIS DAMN SONG???!!!

    • I’m not sure if there really is a strumming pattern, as the song seems to be played mostly on piano (with strings accompaniment) .

      idk though.

      Hope this helped :)
