Most of 21’s lyrics refer to Adele working through the ending of a relationship including this song. She recalled to The Daily Telegraph; “When I did ‘Someone Like You’ live on Jools Holland, I got so upset wondering and hoping and wishing that my ex would be watching it, I went back to my dressing room and sobbed. Making a record is like standing in the middle of Trafalgar Square naked, you let everyone see your good bits and bad bits. I don’t know what possesses me to do that, but I’m not good at anything else.” -Source Someone Like You Songfacts-.

  1. Does anyone have a recommendation for a chord I can play instead of E? it’s hard to reach my fourth finger so far down on the fingerboard when I’m playing a tenor.

    • walkemer000

If you bar the 4th fret and play the A string on the 7th fret with your pinky or ring finger, it sounds very similar and is a lot easier.

  2. FeanorTheUke

you can transpose it anywhere and then put a capo on it to stay in the same key

  3. I think +3 sounds the most authentic if you are looking for something easier to play, but when I sang with it I basically had to screech the higher notes… I think -2 works the best and is easiest and when you really get to singing with it it sounds great! Unless you have a super high voice I’d suggest using -2 :)

  4. Yeetus deletus

If you have a really deep voice like I do, I recommend doing -7 lol it’s pretty easy

  5. for -2 i replaced D with Bm

  6. I’m playing this on a baritone uke and the Gbm is a difficult chords… does anyone know of any alternate chords that are easier but still sound good? thanks

  7. If you end it with a G on -2 it sounds very nice!

  8. hiezer montes

the chords should be A , C# with a G# on the bass, F#, and D, for the intro and the verse.

  9. kissingkillers

-2 is easiest, don’t be intimidated by the Bm :)

    • Do you know a replacement for the Bm? I’m a little more beginner, and I play on a tenor, so that’s a little harder for me.

  10. down down up up down up
